OVERVIEW - Bitsy Buds Pre School

Bitsy Buds Programme are to nurture a growing independence, positive self-esteem and self-image and a love of learning through each child’s earliest experiences. Bitsy Buds offers programmes from Pre-Nursery to Kindergarten and also provides dedicated Learning Support programmes for children who need additional help to learn. The curriculum of each programme has been carefully structured and planned and includes Language and Literacy, Fun with Math programme, Physical Education lessons on a weekly basis, Cooking & Gardening, Aesthetics & Creative Expressions and Speech & Drama. Extra-curricular activities include Drawing & Painting, Music (Keyboard, Drums & Flute), Archery, Karate, Kids Yoga & Kids Cross-Fit.

Through providing focused activities that develop specific concepts, and a balance of play and exploration-based activities, our Montessori trained educators work with small groups of children and provide a more individualised programme. This approach develops our children’s skills in managing time, making choices and decisions and internalised motivation to learn. In this way, our children experience variety in approaches and styles, enabling them to subsequently adapt to a range of primary school settings.

OUR PROGRAMME

Language development is the process by which children come to understand and communicate language during early childhood. It also supports your child’s thinking ability and helps them develop and maintain relationship. It lays the foundation for the reading and writing skills in children as they enter and progress through school. Children make sense of experiences and the world around them. Infact, language is the foundation formost learning whether it is factual knowledge, social skills, moral development or physical achievement.

Math is an important part of learning for children in the early years, because it provides vital life skills. It will help children problem solving, critical thinking, measure and develop their own spatial awareness and teach them how to use and understand shapes. Children acquire numeracy concepts and skills through the use of concrete materials, pictures and symbols. For instance, through sorting shapes, weighing fruits, placing objects in order of big to small, telling time and counting money, they become prepared for more advanced numeracy concepts in primary school.

Art and music and movement experiences help promote children’s imagination and creativity. Observations of children at play, shows that children are often fascinated with the arts and are easily motivated to express themselves, imagine and create without any inhibition when exploring art and music and movement. Our Curriculum provides a range of stimuli, ideas and opportunities for children to draw, paint, print, create collages, construct 3-dimensional structures, sing with actions and movement, and play musical instruments.

Sand is a toy and the less a toy does, the more a child will learn there are hours of fun and learning to be explored with sandasit promotes and encourage a creativity and imaginative play, sensory and language. Sand play involves touching the softs and, feeling its texture, pilling up and making buildings. This gives children an opportunity to do different thinks with it.It is also important for children to develop and practice their fine and gross motor skills.

As the name suggests, water play is play that involves water as well as using tools such as buckets, containers, and toys etc. that allow children to splash, scoop, pour, submerge and explore their senses.Water play in Early Learning settings usually involves a water table or large tub that children can stand around while engaging in their play. This makes for an exciting and social experience for children as they splash, play and have fun together.

In Early Learning, we acknowledge the environment as a teacher. When children engage with their environment and use natural resources in their play, they are building their sense of understanding of the world and their place in it, while also building their understanding of their own abilities to affect and influence things. Water play is both fun and educational and has a range of benefits for your child’s social and emotional development, as well as developing their physical abilities and early literacy and numeracy skills. As an added bonus, children rarely get bored of it!

Physical Education lessons are held on a weekly basis in addition to playground time. Through this specifically designed programme, children learn to co-operate in groups and to work in teams. During this time, they develop both fine and large motor skills, such as such as throwing, kicking and catching, moving in different ways such as jumping, hopping and skipping, as well as body awareness including balance and moving in specific directions.

Our children enjoy regular cookery activities. These fun activities promote co-operation and communication, as well as healthy attitudes towards food and eating. Cooking activities provide a natural integration of many learning areas. Children develop a better understanding of hygiene whilst strengthening their application of mathematical concepts such as counting, measuring and estimating. They develop language skills through discussions, questions and describing the process. Their fine motor skills and their self-help skills are further strengthened as they take an active part in practical hands-on activities.

We proactively encourage ways for our children to explore nature and find out more about the world around them. We set aside garden plots or establish in-centre gardens to encourage all children to experience how things grow. These activities help our children to develop a sense of social responsibility, invite a range of discussions and develop decision-making skills as they make choices about what will be planted.

A key component of our Speech & Drama methodology is to develop skills through the use of drama. Weekly sessions are conducted by specialist teachers following the term’s theme. Children participate in a range of drama-based activities including vocal and body warm-ups, communication games, speech work and creative drama. These activities build confidence, communication skills and a sense of belonging, as our children work together to explore and expand ideas.

Preschools and daycare centers often incorporate circle time songs to help with a number of early development milestones including memory, coordination, motor planning, attentiveness, social interaction, and establishing daily routines. It mayseem like a simple daily ritual within the classroom, but when you look closer, there is so much learning happening just beneath the surface. No matter what you call it (circle time, morning meeting, etc.)this gathering is extremely valuable for the development and education of your children. We will explore in this post are community building, social skills, emotional skills, physical development, and language development. Read on to find out how circle time canaid your students’ development in these crucial areas.
