Pre Montessori (1.5 to 2.5 years)
Toddlers are often encouraged to use their five senses as tools to make observations and discover the characteristics of objects around them. With a child-initiated approach, learning is fostered based on interest, allowing children to make choices among carefully planned curriculum activities.
Early Language Development
In learning their first language children pass through several stages in predictable order: listening, developing understanding, speaking, reading and writing.
The curriculum for toddler care is developed based on the developmental milestones. By the end of 2.5 years toddlers should be using their expressive language skills such as naming toys/pictures and using 2 or more word-combinations. They also should exhibit their receptive language skills by understanding the meaning of common verbs and reflect them in actions.
Muscle and Motor development
In children’s early years, they are in a rapid stage of physical development and require consistent exercises to facilitate and stimulate this growth spurt. With our appropriate indoor and outdoor play gym equipment, toddlers will be naturally excited and involve themselves in play gym activities. By the end of 2.5 years children’s gross motors skills should allow them to throw a ball overhead, catch a large ball and jumps off the floor with both feet; and their fine motor skills should help them opening a door and turning one page at a time.
Cognitive development
During toddlers’ cognitive development, they are learning to better process and organize information, to form a baseline of understanding about the world around them. The curriculum is designed to promote the best cognitive development activities for toddlers by integrating learning with play, which encourages better engagement and better results. The curriculum is also designed to monitor the progress while your child is having fun, making these mental exercises productive and enjoyable. At 2.5 years children should know where things usually belongs and little understanding of the need to wait.
Aesthetics and Creative Expression (ACE)
Art and music and movement experiences help promote children’s imagination and creativity. Observations of children at play show that children are often fascinated with the arts and are easily motivated to express themselves, imagine and create without any inhibition when exploring art and music and movement. Our Curriculum provides a range of stimuli, ideas and opportunities for children to draw, paint, print, create collages, construct 3-dimensional structures, sing with actions and movement, and play musical instruments. Children’s development at 1.5 to 2.5 years includes enjoy exploring and experimenting with art materials and tools.
Social and Emotional Development
Emotional well-being during the early years has a powerful impact on social relationships. This area of development involves learning to interact with other people, and to understand and control your own emotions. A typically developing child around 2 to 2.5 years should exhibit social skills like experimenting adult activities, interacting with other children while playing, helping and pleasing them. The emotional development skills should include taking pride in clothing, recognising emotions in others, etc.
